What could be better than spending St. David’s Day at Portmeirion? Spending St. David’s Day at Portmeirion with your camera, that’s what! Members of the Welshot Photographic Academy are invited to join us on this outdoors adventure, using only your WelshotRewards (points) – for a fun-filled, jam packed day of photography. Covering all manner of photographic genres, from land & seascapes to architectural photography. From macro (and/or close-up) photography to getting creative (maybe even setting yourself a mini project) while you look for all the amazing details that this wonderful Italian inspired village has to offer.
Built by Sir William Clough-Ellis between 1925 and 1975, he brought the glamour and the beauty of the Italian Riviera here to North Wales and this will be where we will put our cameras to the challenge of capturing the spirit and essence of Portmeirion.
For this WelshotRewards Day, with camera in hand, you will explore the village that was made famous by Patrick McGoohan in The Prisoner, taking in the magnificent architecture and the incredible array of plants and flowers that decorate the village. There will be a chance to walk in the forests, capture seascapes, landscapes as well as try your hand at macro photography too.

- Macro & Close-Up Photography (if you join the nature ramble/photography session after lunch)
- How shooting in black and white / colour gives different results.
- How to capture the summer landscape in your camera

Beginner to photography? We’re here for you.
Whether you are a beginner to photography, a photographer who would like to try a new genre, learn a new technique or skill, or, a more advanced photographer who wants to build their image portfolio, you will be made welcome, and we would love to help you get the best out of your camera.
The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this Photography at Portmeirion – St. David’s Day – A WelshotRewards Day event to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories having learned a thing or three about photography and your camera.
How it works
This is a WelshotRewards Day event and only available for Members of the Welshot Photographic Academy. Your Welshot Membership MUST be current at the time this event takes place.
£180 will be converted to 10,000 WelshotRewards at checkout and deducted automatically from your account. WelshotReward Days (including WelshotReward Points) are Non-Transferable and Non-Refundable.
Event Schedule
09:30 – Meet at the ticket office for Portmeirion
09:35 – Welcome, information, and instructions
09:40 – Photography starts
13:00 – Lunch (Not included)
14:00 – Photography – Nature Ramble – Portmeirion walking route(s)
16:00 – Finish
Please Bring
- Camera and lenses suitable for this event – Wide angle if possible or standard zoom
- Spare Batteries and Memory Card
- Tripod / Cable release if you have one
- Entrance tickets and refreshment money
- A list of ideas, help, questions etc that you would like to discuss with Welshot Team Leaders.

No food or drink is included in the cost of this event.
This is a fully outdoor event – please make sure you (and your camera) come dressed appropriately.
