The beautiful Italian village of Portmeirion in Porthmadog, North Wales is the venue for this Summer Welshot Photographic Mini Module and Masterclass. From learning how to shoot for High Dynamic images (HDR) to capturing the colour, textures and shapes of this amazing venue in your camera

Built by Sir William Clough-Ellis between 1925 and 1975, he brought the glamour and the beauty of the Italian Riviera here to North Wales and this will be were we will put our cameras to the challenge of capturing the spirit and essence of Portmeirion.

After the success of the 2019 “Shortest Night” we will, once again, be running this, not so short, non-stop night of photography. Circumnavigating Anglesey and Snowdonia” – starting in Llanberis with a picnic supper in the evening and finishing at breakfast, both of which are included in the cost of this event. Shooting for nearly 15 hours solid.  Most of the 2019 delegates are already pre-booked onto this event so spaces are already limited.

After 6 months membership of Welshot I decided it was time to arrange my 1:1 session with Eifion.  I have recently changed my camera and have had a couple of months getting to know some of its features but have still lots to learn and find most instruction manuals difficult to digest and put into practice.

I am now in my second year as a member of Welshot, a unique photography academy that I sampled a few times before joining so I have experience of them dating back a few years. I joined because I wanted to broaden my photographic horizons beyond the landscapes and architecture I naturally lean to. I’ve now done studio work with models and still life setups, an overnight landscape shoot and today I photographed dancers in and around Llandudno in North Wales.

I had the pleasure of attending the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening in Chester where Helen Iles was giving an extended talk a couple of months’ ago, and I wasn’t the only attendee bowled over by her images. Whilst the idea of wild camping on exposed hills is one I might have been tempted by before I got into my 60’s! I was very pleased to secure a place on her second Walking With Your Camera event with Welshot.
