How to Work With A Model – Everything You Need to Know – From the planning, to the shooting, to making perfect photos.

Whether you are a photographer wanting to undertake a photo-shoot with a professional model or a photographer wanting to capture a family portrait, the challenges in photographing your model(s) can vary based on the specific circumstances of the shoot and the dynamics between you and your model(s). Overcoming these challenges requires a combination of technical proficiency, interpersonal skills, and creative vision.

Portrait Photography – Friday Night is Studio Night @ the Welshot Creative Hub

Portrait Photography – Friday Night is Studio Night at the Welshot Creative Hub. This Welshot Photographic Academy Evening, based at the Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno North Wales will be the perfect opportunity for you to get creative, work with models, build yourself a photographic portfolio, learn about studio (Mains Flash and Off Camera Flash) lighting and help you to keep up to date with the latest techniques, skills and equipment. Limited to eight photographers, with at least two models and two different studio set-ups during this Evening photography workshop you will get One to One and Group tuition and training to help, support and guide you through what can often be thought of as a confusing and complex genre of photography. This, dedicated to learning all things studio lighting for photography course, will have you taking and making portrait images that you will be proud to show off.

Welshot Does… Frocks on Rocks.  This high-fashion photo-shoot has been a long standing annual event at Welshot, and each year, while we may have had a different theme, one thing has always remained the same – The seaside is ALWAYS our location and the 2023 event is no exception. Our theme for 2023 is… Vogue – 1940’s & 1950’s Fashion and our models will be dressed to the nines.   The end of the war saw the return of couture fashion designers like Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, and Hubert de Givenchy, all of whom had a major impact in the style of the decade and at this Welshot Photo-Shoot our Models will be wearing all manner of clothing from full skirts, cinched waists, sloping shoulders, and high waisted pants, which will create hourglass silhouettes with masculine details – perfect to capture in your camera and a stunning image for your portfolio.  We are however, making one major change – we will be starting the days shooting after lunch and will continue until after the sun has gone down.  By making use of of the afternoon and evening light that Llandudno is famous for, you are going to be capturing our models using that natural glow as well as using off camera flash.

It’s all about Piers & Portraits – Off Camera Flash Photography at this Welshot Mini Module in Llandudno, North Wales. Our Model(s) will be posing against the beautiful backdrop of the Llandudno Bay, otherwise known as the Queen of Resorts.  Team Welshot will be helping you to create and make some great portrait images using off camera flash as well as using the available natural light. From simple and elegant headshots on the pier and promenade, to dramatic and creative poses and splashing on the beach at West Shore  this event will be perfect for those who want to learn the techniques and skills required to capture some stunning portraits.

Lighting Techniques for Portrait Photography – Day two and it is all about Off Camera Flash Flash at the Welshot Photographic Lighting Academy Weekend.  Day two will cover everything you need to know about Off Camera Flash, how it works with your camera and how you can take, make and create great portraiture photography inside and outside on location.  From learning how to set up your lighting equipment from the ground up in the Welshot Creative Hub, you will be shown how to use one light, then two lights.  You will be working inside and out on location around Llandudno, and Team Welshot will help you to get all the images you want for your portfolio.  You will be shown how to work with props, modifiers and gels to give you a wide range of looks and our experienced Welshot models will put you at ease immediately.  If you need any help (with posing or working with models) they will be only too pleased to give you all the help, guidance and suggestions you want.  Our Models will be wearing a variety of outfits/costumes and we will be using a wide range of backdrops and sets (inside and outside). Lighting Techniques for Portrait Photography – Day One:  Studio Mains Flash sees the return of the Welshot Photographic Lighting Academy Weekend.  Day one will cover all things ‘Mains Studio’ and you will be taken through all the steps you need to know to enable you to take, make and create great portraiture photography.  From learning how to set up your lighting equipment from the ground up, you will be taken through how using one light, then two, three and onto four lights can help you to capture a wide variety of images with different looks.  You will be shown how using a light meter can help you to get the perfectly exposed image to how working with props, modifiers and gels can change the look of your image.  Our experienced Welshot models will put you at ease immediately, and if you need help they will be only too pleased to help.  They will be wearing a variety of outfits/costumes and we will be using a wide range of backdrops and sets. If you have ever wanted to learn, perfect or hone your studio lighting for photography skills then this is the day for you.  Day one of the Welshot Lighting Academy Weekend can be taken as a stand-alone or together with day two (booked separately)

This Lighting for studio portraiture using studio mains flash for is a practical, hands on Welshot Academy Evening for all photography enthusiasts wanting to learn how to creatively shoot portraits using flash studio lights. Learning about lighting, and how it works, is the single most important thing you can learn when it comes to your portrait photography. Rembrandt, butterfly, side and split lighting, using grids, getting creative, learning to see (and shoot) in black and white will help you to create, learn and inspire your photography. Your studio mains flash for his photography workshop will be taking place at The Bulkeley Hotel, Beaumaris, Anglesey.

Mains studio flash, off camera flash, photography and period costumes on location at The Bulkeley Hotel – what more could the portrait photographer possibly want or need. At this Anglesey Photographic Academy Evening your models will be wearing authentic costumes from the Cambria Costume House. We will have at least one mains studio flash set up with various backgrounds and props and we will also be using off camera flash on locations in and around the hotel – including the ornate grand staircase and ballroom. Tonight, you will also learn precision, where to place the light, and how it falls on your subject can dramatically affect the look of your image.
