Welshot for Kids – A Photo Scavenger Hunt at Foel Farm Park

Welshot for Kids – A Photo Scavenger Hunt at Foel Farm Park
Looking for a fun and creative family activity in North Wales these Easter school holidays? Our Welshot for Kids Photo Scavenger Hunt at Foel Farm Park is a relaxed, family-led experience designed to help children explore, discover, and engage with the world around them in a playful and meaningful way. You can use your camera (or phone) or just simply take part in crossing off the items on our BINGO-style scavenger sheet.
This is a FREE activity/event but entrance to Foel Farm Park is required.
Set within the beautiful surroundings of Foel Farm Park on the banks of the Menai Straits on Anglesey, this kids scavenger hunt invites families to take their time, spot hidden details, and enjoy a simple, screen-free activity together.
As you explore the farm, children will be invited to spot and tick off a series of fun and engaging items using our BINGO-style scavenger sheet. From animals and tractors to textures, shapes, and little details, there’s plenty to discover along the way.
There’s no set route, no time pressure, and no right or wrong way to take part, just a chance to enjoy one of the most enjoyable things to do with kids in North Wales, at your own pace.
How it works:
- Collect your Welshot Photo Scavenger Hunt sheet
- Explore Foel Farm Park at your own pace
- Spot, find, and tick off the items as you go
- Optional: Take photos if you’d like, but it’s not required
- Enjoy a simple, creative activity as a family
What they’ll learn (without it feeling like learning!)
- How to notice details in the world around them:
- Children will begin to look a little closer at things they might normally walk past. From the texture of a goat’s fur to the patterns in the ground, the shapes of tractor wheels, or the way light falls across a surface. It’s about gently encouraging awareness and curiosity.
- The joy of observation and curiosity:
- This isn’t about getting the “right” answer, it’s about asking questions, exploring, and discovering things for themselves. The scavenger hunt naturally encourages children to stay curious, follow their instincts, and enjoy the process of looking and finding.
- How to look for colours, shapes, and patterns:
- Through the BINGO-style sheet, children will start to recognise colours, repeating patterns, and interesting shapes in a fun and engaging way. It helps them see the world more creatively, without even realising they’re learning a key visual skill.
- Storytelling through what they find and see:
- Each item they tick off becomes part of their own little story of the day. What they found first, what surprised them, what made them smile. Whether they take photos or not, they’re beginning to understand how experiences can be turned into stories
- Building confidence through exploration and play:
- With no pressure, no time limits, and no expectation to “perform,” children are free to explore in their own way. This helps build confidence naturally, celebrating small wins, making choices, and feeling proud of what they discover.
- Slowing down and being present in the moment:
- In a world that often feels busy and fast-paced, this activity creates space to slow down. To pause. To notice. To enjoy being outdoors, spending time together, and simply being in the moment without distraction.
Who is this for:
- Children of all ages who enjoy exploring and discovering
- Families looking for a relaxed, creative activity to do together
- Kids who love animals, tractors, and being outdoors
- Children who prefer a gentle, no-pressure environment
