Our stunning models will be showcasing a range of stylish outfits, including vintage 1950s Vogue, 1960s retro fashion, and the iconic Dresses & Docs look, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Llandudno Bay. From the picturesque pier and charming promenade to the striking colonnades, you’ll have plenty of stunning locations to choose from as you capture fashion-forward portraits and creative shots.
We’ll guide you through different lighting techniques, using both off-camera flash and the beautiful natural light available during the “Golden Hour” and “Blue Hour”—that magical time right before and after sunset when the lighting is soft, warm, and perfect for creating striking images. Whether you’re experimenting with dramatic poses, capturing candid moments, or working on more posed portraits, our team will be there every step of the way to ensure you have the skills and confidence to create truly standout shots.
This evening will be perfect for photographers who want to learn new techniques, practice their portrait photography skills, or expand their portfolio. You’ll get plenty of hands-on time with the models, working in a relaxed, non-competitive environment with like-minded photographers. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and get personal tips from our team of experts, so you can feel confident and inspired throughout the shoot.
In case the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ve got you covered with our backup plan – Either under the colonnades or, if in really bad weather, back at the Welshot Creative Hub, where we’ll continue shooting in a comfortable indoor studio environment. You won’t miss a moment of creative opportunity!

The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this Frocks, Doc’s & Piers: Fashion & Portrait Photography – Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening event to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories having learned a thing or three about photography and your camera.
Event Schedule
18:30 – Meet at the Welshot Creative Hub – 16 Trinity Square, Llandudno
18:35 – Photography starts – One to One and Group tuition
19:00 – Portraiture in the Golden Hour
20:13 – Sunset and Portraiture in the Blue Hour
22:00 – Finish
We will take a comfort / refreshment break at a suitable time, depending on conditions and location.
Please Bring
- Camera and lenses suitable for this event – Standard zoom (18 – 55mm) 50mm / any lens up to 100mm (or your preferred lens for portraiture)
- Spare Batteries and Memory Card
- A list of ideas, help, questions etc that you would like to discuss with Welshot Team Leaders.

- Please Note: This is an outside, on location shoot using off camera flash – if the weather is unsuitable we will be using & shooting inside at the Welshot Creative Hub
