Step into the world of Food Styling & Photography at this Welshot Academy Evening in Llandudno and take your food photographic skills to new heights. This hands-on evening workshop is designed to equip you with a variety of essential techniques, tips, and creative insights that will transform the way you capture food. You’ll also explore how to fine-tune your camera settings and utilise in-camera techniques to capture images that pop.
From classic still-life photography to engaging flat-lay shots, we’ll teach you how to play with creative angles and lighting to bring out the best in your food photography. You’ll gain an understanding of how to use depth of field to either achieve crisp, sharp images or blur your backgrounds for dramatic effect. Plus, discover how to master the art of bokeh to create that soft, beautiful background blur that draws attention to the subject.
Our goal is for you to leave this workshop with a solid understanding of food styling and photography, and a selection of stunning images ready to enhance your portfolio or social media.

- How to modify and control light using diffusers, reflectors, and other tools.
- Composition and Styling Techniques:
- Learn how to arrange, style, and compose your shots, including the best ways to create a balanced and visually appealing image.
- Camera Settings and Functions:
- How to use your camera settings to get the best possible results, including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
- The importance of understanding depth of field and how to use it to control what’s in focus and what’s blurred.
- How to adjust white balance to ensure your food looks true to life and vibrant in your photos.
- In-Camera Composition:

18:35 – Photography starts – One to One and Group tuition
20:00 – Short break – time to grab yourself a hot/cold drink
20:30 – Photography continues with One to One and Group Tuition
