Piers & Portrait Photography – Llandudno & Colwyn Bay

It’s all about Piers & Portraits and off camera flash photography at this on location photo-shoot Welshot full day photo-shoot in Llandudno, North Wales. Our Model(s) will be wearing a wide range of fashion outfits and posing against the beautiful backdrop of the Llandudno Bay, otherwise known as the Queen of Resorts, specifically, the pier, the promenade and the colonnades. Team Welshot will be helping you to create and make some great portrait images using off camera flash as well as using the available natural light. After a refreshment break, we will then move to Colwyn Bay to for the next session – capturing our portraits using the “Golden” and “Blue” hours before and after sunset. From simple and elegant headshots on the pier and promenade, to dramatic and creative poses on the new Colwyn Bay Pier this event will be perfect for those who want to learn the techniques and skills required to capture some stunning portraits. We even have a back-up plan if the weather isn’t playing ball!

Film Noir Photography – a style or genre of cinematographic film marked by a mood of pessimism, fatalism, and menace. Originally applied (by a group of French critics) to American thriller or detective films made in the period 1944–54 and to the work of directors such as Orson Welles, Fritz Lang, and Billy Wilder, at this themed photo-shoot by Welshot you will be using Off Camera Flash as well as Studio Mains Flash using elements such as cynical heroes (Your models), stark lighting effects and learning how to use lighting modifier, special effects and props to tell a story in your photography of intrigue and mystery.

I am now in my second year as a member of Welshot, a unique photography academy that I sampled a few times before joining so I have experience of them dating back a few years. I joined because I wanted to broaden my photographic horizons beyond the landscapes and architecture I naturally lean to. I’ve now done studio work with models and still life setups, an overnight landscape shoot and today I photographed dancers in and around Llandudno in North Wales.
