Frocks On Rocks – Fashion & Portrait Photography – Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening

Frocks on Rocks, meets Piers and Portraits – our Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening for August sees two of the most popular Welshot photography sessions come together for this off camera, on location fashion photography shoot come to life.

Our Model(s) will be wearing a wide range of fashion outfits, ranging from 1950’s Vogue to 1960’s retro, and posing against the beautiful backdrop of the Llandudno Bay, otherwise known as the Queen of Resorts, specifically, the pier, the promenade and the colonnades. Team Welshot will be helping you to create and make some great portrait images using off camera flash as well as using the available natural light as well as capturing your portraits using the “Golden” and “Blue” hours before and after sunset. From simple and elegant headshots on the pier and promenade, to dramatic and creative poses, this event will be perfect for those who want to learn the techniques and skills required to capture some stunning portraits. We even have a back-up plan if the weather isn’t playing ball – the Welshot Creative Hub!

Welshot Does… Frocks on Rocks. This high-fashion photo-shoot has been a long standing annual event at Welshot, and each year, while we may have had a different theme, one thing has always remained the same – The seaside is ALWAYS our location and the 2023 event is no exception. Our theme for 2023 is… Vogue – 1940’s & 1950’s Fashion and our models will be dressed to the nines. The end of the war saw the return of couture fashion designers like Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, and Hubert de Givenchy, all of whom had a major impact in the style of the decade and at this Welshot Photo-Shoot our Models will be wearing all manner of clothing from full skirts, cinched waists, sloping shoulders, and high waisted pants, which will create hourglass silhouettes with masculine details – perfect to capture in your camera and a stunning image for your portfolio. We are however, making one major change – we will be starting the days shooting after lunch and will continue until after the sun has gone down. By making use of of the afternoon and evening light that Llandudno is famous for, you are going to be capturing our models using that natural glow as well as using off camera flash.

Frocks on Rocks – Trash The Dress – Photo-Shoot, this Welshot event was postponed due to Covid 19 and subsequent lockdowns. Now that we are back to normal for events we have been able to reschedule this photographic workshop, and previously booked on delegates can look forward to a fun day of photography, props, working with a large cast of models and learn a thing or three about off camera flash photography.
