Were taking advantage of the ‘still early’ darker evenings and getting out and about with our cameras to capture the Anglesey coastline in extreme low-light conditions.  At this Welshot Roving Academy Evening, based in Beaumaris, we will be shooting long exposures – from Gallows Point to the Pier itself.  Shooting in low light can be challenging – Tonight you will be learning how to each element of the exposure triangle (ISO / Shutter / Aperture) to create your image.  Understanding the exposure triangle is an important part of knowing how to use your camera, especially when shooting in low light.  Learning how to use your shutter speeds and exposure times with the ambient (natural light) will help to create a variety of looks in your photographs. At this low-light and long exposure seascape photography workshop you will be capturing and creating unique and inspiring images to be proud of.

Action Photography – Power Bikes at Ty Croes Racetrack – WelshotRewards Day

At this Action Photography – Power Bikes at Ty Croes Racetrack – WelshotRewards Day event you will learn how to use your camera to capture some great images and take in the atmosphere of the Anglesey Circuit.  With Power Bikes as your subject, you will learn all the techniques needed to capture the movement and speed of the bikes whilst they race around one of the most picturesque circuits in the country. During the day there will be plenty of opportunity for 1:1 tuition, learning how to master the art of panning and which shutter speeds to use to get the image you want to create.  During the day you will visit the pit area, helping you to get up close to the motorcycles being prepared for racing. As a photographer, this gives you an opportunity to build up a story of the day in photos.

Creative Christmas Photography - Anglesley Photographic Academy Evening

Creative Christmas Photography at the Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening is all about having some fun with your camera while you create some wonderful seasonal photographs.  At the November Welshot Academy Evening at the Welshot Creative Hub you will be learning how to make your own Christmas filters, then using fairy lights, and Christmas trees, you will learn how to capture that lovely Bokeh in your camera which makes for some stunning and festive images.  We will also be working with coloured lights, torches and gels to do some inside light-painting.  From flat-lay to still-life photography, from food to Christmas products this will be an opportunity for those who want to make festive and seasonal images for a specific purpose – art work, Christmas cards, stock photography or just for the pure fun of learning something new and a chance to take some photos.  Hot chocolate, Christmas mince pies, Christmas crackers and a glass (or two) of mulled wine will complete this last Llandudno Academy Evening for 2022.

Oil Water and Cross Polarisation - Creative Photography

Creative Photography is about discovering shapes, textures, colour and movement and how all these, combined together, can help you to create the most amazing photographs.  At the September Welshot Academy Evening, based at The Bulkeley Hotel, Beaumaris on Anglesey this Evening photographic workshop is all about  Oil, Water & Cross-Polarisation and how using a wide variety of everyday objects, from bottles, to coloured cloth, along with the correct settings and functions on your camera, can achieve effective images with that “WOW – how did you do that?” factor.  From fast shutter speeds to capture water droplets to long exposures so you get that milky effect with flowing water.  Tonight you will see how oil and water does mix when it comes to photography and a laptop just isn’t used for post processing and editing your images.  You will leave this event inspired and motivated to try this at home and with the skills, techniques and ideas you will have take away with you, you will be able to do just that.

Shortest Night 2023 - A Photographic Adventure in North Wales - Llyn Pardarn in Llanberis, Snowdonia, North Wales with Dolbardarn Castle in distance.

Welshot Does… The Shortest Night 2023 – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales.  On this, our annual all night adventure we will be visiting the beautiful landscape of Anglesey and Snowdonia in North Wales, which is always a firm Welshot favourite and always has our delegates booking on the next years ‘Shortest Night’ adventure before breakfast (included) have been eaten at the end of the event. The not so short, night of photography, which is always held as close to the 21st June as possible starts by the side of Llyn Padarn (Llanberis Lake) deep in the heart of Snowdonia before moving on for a marathon photographic session visiting numerous locations. Sixteen hours (Yes, we can see the irony!) of photographic fun, friendship and getting creative with your camera will have you shooting everything from star trails to long exposures, from architecture to land and seascapes. Hunting for the magic blue bioluminescence will also be on the agenda.

Anglesey Bridges at Night – Low-Light Photography –  the September Welshot Roving Photographic Academy Evening is guaranteed to have you using your camera in low-light conditions and learning how to shoot long exposures.  If architectural photography is your jam then this is the photographic workshop event for you.  From Telford’s Menai Bridge to Robert Stephensons Britannia Bridge, which both connect the Island of Anglesey to the mainland of North Wales, these photogenetic structures will both delight and reward the photographer. Starting from the Coed Cyrnol Car Park, we will be walking along the Belgium Promenade, stopping at Llandysilio Island (otherwise known as Church Island) to capture the Britannia Bridge in all her splendour, before heading towards, and underneath, the magnificent Telford’s Bridge.  As we walk up to, onto and over the Menai Bridge itself we will capture this historical structure from both sides and all angles in our cameras.  If time permits, we can then make our way, by car, to the local lookout layby near to the A55 (and Britannia Bridge) so you can capture both bridges in all their glory as you head home from a wonderful evening of low-light, long exposure and architectural photography.

Frocks on Rocks – Trash The Dress – Photo-Shoot, this Welshot event was postponed due to Covid 19 and subsequent lockdowns. Now that we are back to normal for events we have been able to reschedule this photographic workshop, and previously booked on delegates can look forward to a fun day of photography, props, working with a large cast of models and learn a thing or three about off camera flash photography.
