Photography isn’t always about finding the perfect subject, sometimes it’s about creating one.  Join Team Welshot for a relaxed and creative Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening where you’ll design your own beautiful floral arrangement before transforming it into a stunning still-life photograph.

Each delegate will receive their own selection of fresh flowers to arrange however they choose. Whether you prefer something simple and elegant or colourful and creative, your arrangement becomes your own unique photographic subject.

Throughout the evening we’ll guide you through the entire creative process. We’ll help you think about composition, backgrounds, lighting, camera settings and the little details that can make an ordinary photograph become something rather special. There will be plenty of opportunities for both group demonstrations and one-to-one guidance, so whether you’re completely new to still-life photography or looking to develop your creative eye, you’ll be well supported.

Once everyone has completed their own arrangement, you’ll also have the chance to photograph the beautiful floral displays created by the other delegates, giving you a variety of different subjects and styles to capture during the evening.

And when the photography is finished, your creativity doesn’t end there.  You’ll take your own floral arrangement home to enjoy.

This Academy Evening is all about slowing down, noticing the details, experimenting with light and composition, and enjoying an evening of creativity in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

What You’ll Learn

• • How to create a floral arrangement:  Learn how to arrange your flowers to create a balanced and visually pleasing still-life that is ready to photograph.
  • The art of composition:  Discover how to position flowers, containers and props to create photographs that naturally draw the viewer’s eye through the image.
  • How to work with colour and texture:  Explore how different colours, shapes and textures complement one another to create photographs full of interest and impact.
  • How to choose the perfect background:  See how simple backgrounds can transform an image and help your floral arrangement become the centre of attention.
  • How to light your still-life:  Learn how to use available or continuous light to reveal colour, texture and detail, and understand how changing the direction of light can completely alter the mood of your photograph.
  • Which camera settings are best:  Gain confidence using aperture, shutter speed and ISO to achieve sharp images, beautiful background blur or greater depth of field when required.
  • How to explore different viewpoints:  Experiment with photographing your arrangement from above, at eye level and from unusual angles to discover which tells the strongest visual story.
  • How to capture the finer details:  Focus on the intricate textures, delicate petals and subtle patterns that make floral photography so rewarding.
  • How to photograph a variety of arrangements:  Once everyone has created their own display, you’ll have the opportunity to photograph the unique floral arrangements designed by other delegates, giving you plenty of creative inspiration.
  • Hot to develop your creative eye:  Slow down, observe the little details and discover how thoughtful composition and careful lighting can transform everyday flowers into beautiful works of art.
  • How to create still-life photographs at home:  Leave with ideas, techniques and confidence to continue photographing flowers and other everyday objects long after the Academy Evening has finished.

Whether you are a beginner to photography, a photographer who would like to try a new genre, learn a new technique or skill, or, a more advanced photographer who wants to build their image portfolio, you will be made welcome, and we would love to help you get the best out of your camera.

The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this Make & Take Your Own Floral Arrangement – Still Life Photography – Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories having learned a thing or three about photography and your camera.

18:35 – Photography starts – One to One and Group tuition
20:00 – Short break – time to grab yourself a hot/cold drink
20:30 – Photography continues with One to One and Group Tuition
22:00 – Finish
