What Will Happen
Bokeh Photography and making your own filters is what’s happening at the Welshot Anglesey Academy Evening in October. Based at The Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris we will be showing you not only how to create bokeh in your images and helping you to understand all the things you need how to use this creative technique in your own photography but we will also be showing you how you can make your own filters unique to you and your photos. Bokeh is created by using a wide aperture to render a busy background into a soft space of colour, turning small points of light into soft circles which establishes a shallow depth of field which causes the background to blur giving your image a pleasing effect and look.
Bokeh is used in portraiture and specifically, close-up portraits or even macro photographs of nature. Photographers will use the bokeh effect a lot around the Christmas season too, because holiday lights and reflective ornaments will look soft, pastel like, and diffused, which gives you a beautiful, finished image. Knowing how to make, create and use bokeh is a technical skill every photographer should know how to do and use.
Whether you are a beginner to photography, a photographer who would like to try a new genre, learn a new technique or skill or a more advanced photographer who wants to build their image portfolio, you will be made welcome and we would love to help you get the best out of your camera.
The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this session to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories.
Please Note: Supper is included in this event, and you will be sent an email once your booking has been confirmed to pre-order your food. This is a fully indoors event.
Welshot will be keeping within Welsh Government regulations and recommendations regarding the Coronavirus and Covid 19 Regulations, and we expect our delegates to do the same

The Schedule
- 6.30pm – Meet in lounge area of The Bulkeley Hotel – Welcome, introductions, handouts if applicable
- 6:35pm – Photography starts – Session one
- 8.00pm – Light supper – Included
- 8: 30pm – Photography resumes – Session two
- 10:00pm – Finish

- Camera and lenses suitable for this event – Wide angle if possible or standard zoom
- Spare (Fully Charged) Batteries and Memory Card
- Tripod / Cable release if you have one
