As a small business owner, I wear a lot of hats, photographer, stylist, marketer, and content creator.

Often all before I’ve even had my morning cuppa!

For years, I’ve relied on my iPhone for everything: Product photography, social media content, and behind-the-scenes shots for my business True North Vintage.

It was quick and convenient, but I knew my photos could look better.

I wanted my images to reflect the character and quality of the vintage pieces I sell, and to finally feel confident creating professional-looking photos for my brand.

That’s why I booked a One-to-One Brand Photography Day with Welshot in Llandudno, and it completely changed how I approach photography for my business.

Learning to use a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera

Before my session, I’ll admit I found the idea of using a proper camera a bit intimidating. I thought it would be too technical. But Eifion made it so simple and relaxed. He adjusted the pace for me and explained how to use the settings in a clear, friendly way. Eifion even made time to help my daughter Scarlett with the camera as she often helps me within the business.

By the end of the session, we were both confidently experimenting with things we’d usually avoid, like aperture, shutter speed and lighting.

Using a Welshot camera felt natural and exciting. Throughout the day I still used my iPhone too, but I found myself reaching for the camera more often than I’d expected, especially for close-up product photography, the difference in clarity and depth was amazing.

Personalised, and practical learning for my brand and business

What made this day stand out was how tailor-made it was. I brought along a box of vintage products and explained my aesthetic, and from that point, everything was built around my brand, my business and my needs.

Eifion showed me how to create better lighting setups, position my products and shoot flatlays that look clean, balanced and authentic.

We even worked on portraits and headshots, something I’d normally avoid, but it turned out to be one of the best parts of the day. Having professional-looking photos that still feel like “me” has given me a huge confidence boost.

The Welshot Creative Hub in Llandudno is a beautiful and inspiring space. It’s filled with props, backdrops, natural light and studio lighting equipment that makes shooting feel effortless.

From the moment I arrived, Lee and Eifion made my daughter and I feel at home. The pre-session communication was excellent, friendly, clear and detailed. The studio was easy to find, with free parking and plenty of amenities nearby.

I loved the relaxed atmosphere, the cups of tea, and the genuine encouragement throughout the day.

New confidence, new skills, and better photographs

Before this experience, I often felt stuck when it came to creating content. I’d grab my ring light, take a few quick phone snaps and hope for the best. Sometimes, I even avoided posting because I wasn’t confident in my photos.

After my Welshot session, everything changed. I came away with new skills, professional-quality images and a solid plan for creating future content. I now know how to make the most of both my iPhone and my camera, how to plan my shoots, and how to make my brand photography look consistent and professional.

As I prepare my next vintage collection for Christmas, I feel inspired and ready to show it off properly.
