Food styling and photography, that’s what’s happening at the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening at The Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris, Anglesey for May. During this food photography workshop you will be using continuous natural and ambient lighting while learning how to use props, how to style with your food and how to best light the image you wish to make. From Flat-lay to creative photogenic angles, from bokeh to crisp sharp images – your main aim is to leave having not only learned a thing or three about food photography but have a selection of images worthy of any food magazine.

Street Photography meets Chinese New Year 2022 – What more does a photographer a need. This WelshotRewards Day for Academy Members will keep you and your camera busy for hours. Vibrant, colourful, and atmospheric you will be able to capture everything from dramatic panoramic scenescapes to close-up details, from street photography to dance and movement. After meeting in Liverpool One we will wander up to the iconic Chinese Ceremonial Archway, which, standing tall and can be seen from a distance, provides and impressive entrance to Chinatown, home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe.

Wildlife photography at the Martin Mere WWT – What could be better than walking around the bustling wetlands with your camera photographing the birds who are overwintering. Our first Welshot Mini-Module with Masterclass of 2022 is designed to help you get out and about, beat those Winter blues and exploring the Martin Mere wetland paradise. This Welshot photographic workshop will have you making and creating some stunning images in the peaceful reedbeds, home to bearded tits and cetti’s warblers and marsh harriers in flight. Learn how to capture movement, capture birds and wildfowl being fed to the famous pink flamingos of this wonderful wetland area based in Burscough, near Ormskirk.

I am now in my second year as a member of Welshot, a unique photography academy that I sampled a few times before joining so I have experience of them dating back a few years. I joined because I wanted to broaden my photographic horizons beyond the landscapes and architecture I naturally lean to. I’ve now done studio work with models and still life setups, an overnight landscape shoot and today I photographed dancers in and around Llandudno in North Wales.
