You Will Learn
- Understanding Macro & Close-Up Photography – Definition and Characteristics: Learn what constitutes as Macro / Close-Up in photography and the essential elements that make a strong image.
- Understanding Equipment: Get detailed information on macro lenses, extension tubes, and close-up filters. Understand the use of tripods, focusing rails, and other stabilising equipment.
- Subject Selection: Identifying interesting subjects for macro photography such as insects, flowers, textures, and everyday objects.
- Camera Settings: Gain knowledge on optimal camera settings for Macro / Close-Up photography, including exposure, ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.
- Lighting Techniques: Understand the importance of backlighting and how to use natural and artificial light to create stunning images.
- Composition for Floral & Still-Life: Your composition plays a crucial role in floral photography. By paying attention to factors such as the rule of thirds, framing, and depth of field to create visually appealing and balanced images. Experimenting with angles and perspectives can result in unique and interesting compositions.
- Negative Space: Learn how to use negative space effectively to enhance the visual impact of your photographs.
- Foreground and Background Elements: Understand how to utilise both foreground and background elements to add depth and interest.

The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this All Things Creative – From Macro to Still-Life Photography event to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories having learned a thing or three about photography and your camera.

10:35 – Photography starts – 1:1 and group tuition

14.00 – Photography resumes – 1:1 and group tuition – Q&A

- Camera and lenses suitable for this event – Standard zoom (18 – 55mm) 50mm / Any lens up to 100mm / Macro if you have one
- Spare Batteries and Memory Card
- Tripod – Welshot can help with this if you do not have a tripod
- You are welcome to bring your own props if you wish
- A list of ideas, help, questions etc that you would like to discuss with Welshot Team Leaders.
