A Summer Solstice Photographic Adventure – Sunrise to Sunset on Anglesey
What could be better than a photographic adventure to celebrate the “Summer Solstice” – This full-day, Welshot event is the perfect way to experience the long days of summer. Starting at Penmon Lighthouse, we will capture the sun as it rises above the Great Orme which overlooks Llandudno, North Wales. You will learn how to take long exposure, experimenting with using various shutter speed to slow the movement of water, which will give the sea that ‘Milky – Blurry’ look. This photographic event is guaranteed to provide the photographer with a wide range of subjects and genres. From seascape to landscape photography, from architectural to nature and wildlife, from macro to close-up – this is a day for those who like to amble around with their camera.
Welshot Does… The “Longest Day” – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales circumnavigating the Island of Anglesey. Meeting at Penmon Lighthouse, in time to watch and capture the sunrise over the Llandudno Great Orme in your camera will be the start to our Welshot Does… The Longest Day photographic adventure for 2025. We will then proceed to visit numerous photographic locations, from South Stack Lighthouse to the historic Telford’s Bridge, from Church Island to Parys Mountain in Amwlch, from LLanddwyn Island to Menai Bridge and Beaumaris – This day will have it all for the outdoor photographer – so why not grab your camera and join us on this 19 hour photography adventure.
From Telford’s Menai Bridge to Robert Stephensons Britannia Bridge, which both connect the Island of Anglesey to the mainland of North Wales, these photogenic structures will both delight and reward the photographer. Starting from the Coed Cyrnol car park, we will be walking along the Belgium Promenade, stopping at Llandysilio Island (otherwise known as Church Island) to capture the Britannia Bridge in all her splendour, before heading towards, and underneath, the magnificent Telford’s Bridge.
As we walk up to, onto and over the Menai Bridge itself we will capture this historical structure from both sides and all angles in our cameras. If time permits, we can then make our way, by car, to the local lookout layby near to the A55 (and Britannia Bridge) so you can capture both bridges in all their glory.

- Depending on weather conditions and tides, the locations and itinerary could vary but you will be kept informed at all times. A detailed itinerary will be sent out two weeks prior to the event taking place
- If weather conditions are unfavourable for this event we will give you several options – your money will be kept safe on file.
After the blue hour you will head home from a wonderful day of lighthouses, piers and bridges.

The Welshot Team will be at hand throughout this A Summer Solstice Photographic Adventure – Sunrise to Sunset on Anglesey event to assist and help you get the best from your camera, so you can leave at the end of this session with memory cards full of beautiful photographs and great memories having learned a thing or three about photography and your camera.
Event Schedule
04.00 – Meet at Penmon
04:45 – Sunrise – Seascape / Landscape / Marco & Close-Up Photography
09.00 – Breakfast in Beaumaris (not included)We will then circumnavigate around Anglesey visiting various photogenic locations – full itinerary will be given two weeks prior to the event taking place.
20:49 – Shoot the “Golden Hour” – location to be confirmed
21:49 – Sunset – Shoot the “Blue Hour”
23:00 – Finish
Please Bring
- Camera and lenses suitable for this event – Wide angle if possible or standard zoom
- Spare Batteries and Memory Card
- Filters if you have them
- Tripod / Cable release if you have one
- Warm clothing and wet weather protection for you and your camera
- Parking & Toll Fees
- Breakfast, lunch and any snacks and drinks that you think that you might need throughout the day
- A list of ideas, help, questions etc that you would like to discuss with Welshot Team Leaders
