We get a lot of email and phone calls asking us if we can help with certain, specific issues to do with photography, whether it’s buying a camera to creating content for websites and social media – we thought it might be useful to list them here so you can see what we can do to help you.

About Welshot
Welshot was the brainchild of Lee Iggulden – in the late 2008 she was asked to leave her camera club, being told she did not quite fit in… Lee wanted to learn “HOW” to get the best from her camera – to understand how it worked and to be able to make and create images she could see in her mind’s eye through her camera and lens. Enter stage left – Eifion Williams, a friend from the same camera club, who was working as a second photographer doing wedding photography at the weekends and following his passion for action and portraiture photography in his spare time.
Long story short, in 2009 they joined forces and created the Welshot Photographic Academy – with the simple aim of helping those who wanted to learn how to get the best from their camera could have a safe, fun, non-competitive and affordable environment in which to do so.

- Between us we have over 40 years plus experience of using cameras
- Welshot has been helping people with their cameras, photography and running events since 2009
- We’ve run 100’s of one-to-one “Learn Your Camera” sessions
- We’ve organised and run events for organisations such as North Wales & Cheshire Police
- We’ve helped young adults who are working towards their “Duke of Edinburgh” awards
- We’ve played “Tour Guide” (and given photography tuition where needed) to numerous overseas visitors to the UK
- We’ve worked with photographers who are building their panel and portfolio for various qualifications
- We’ve helped individuals who have been made redundant and have received grants to help them re-skill.
- We are not affiliated to anyone – so, if we recommend a product, a service or a company, you can be assured it’s because we believe in it and not because we are on commission.
- In 2019 we celebrated 10 years and Olympus Cameras, London Camera Exchange and Gavin Hoey Training supported us at our huge open weekend for over 300 photographers at the Chester Crowne Plaza
- During Covid and the various lockdowns we took Welshot online and ran daily, weekly and monthly challenges as well as our Zoom One-to-One sessions.
Things That Matter to Us:
Everything we do at Welshot is driven by our beliefs and ethos that everyone has a right to learn in a safe, non-competitive, and friendly environment.
Age and gender don’t matter, neither does the make, model and age of your camera (we still help people with film cameras) and regardless of whether you want help getting more confident with your camera, or you’d like to join an in-person event with other photographers – everyone is always welcome.
At Welshot, whatever we do, whether it’s landscape, macro, street and documentary photography or helping photographers to build a portfolio – it must be fun – we have a saying at Welshot, if it’s not fun, we are not doing it right!
We love those lightbulb moments when it just clicks for someone, when they achieve a qualification, get their work published, win a camera club competition or, more importantly, when someone gets more use out of their camera than they did before they came to Welshot!

Fact #1
We love a few sweet treats at Welshot – the box with all the Haribos is always full and always on offer.
Fact #2
We walked around Paris from 5:00pm to 7:00am the next morning just taking photos of the city at night.
Fact #3
Every year we run a Longest Day, or Shortest Night adventure. Always as close to the 21st of June (Summer Solstice) we circumnavigate Anglesey (and often Snowdonia) – it’s fun, but it’s not for the faint-hearted as it’s often up to 19-hours long!
