Things won’t always go according to plan – and that’s part of the fun! \nWhether you’re relatively new to photography or have been using your camera for years\, this is an opportunity to try something different\, build your confidence and discover what happens when creativity meets technique. \nDuring this practical photographic Academy Evening we’ll explore:\nYou’ll explore: \n\nFreezing movement: Discover the relationship between shutter speed\, flash duration and capturing fast-moving subjects.\nWorking with studio flash: Learn how short flash durations can freeze movement that would otherwise appear blurred.\nCamera settings: Understand how to use manual exposure\, aperture\, ISO and focusing techniques for high-speed photography.\nTiming the shot: Experiment with capturing droplets\, splashes and objects at just the right moment.\nLighting water and movement: Discover how different lighting positions and backgrounds change the appearance of splashes and droplets.\nCreative experimentation: Explore composition\, colour\, reflections and different ways of making your images stand out.\n\nThroughout the evening\, we’ll guide you through the techniques used to capture fast-moving subjects and create striking high-speed photographs.  You’ll also learn why some techniques work better than others\, how to troubleshoot common problems and how to adapt your approach as you experiment. \nWhat you will be photographing?\nYou will create a selection of practical photography setups designed to help you experiment with movement\, timing and light.  Including water droplets falling into a container\, objects creating splashes\, suspended droplets and creative experiments using different backgrounds and lighting effects. \nThere will be plenty of opportunities to try different camera settings\, compare results and make adjustments with all theguidance\, help and support you’d like. \nNo two splashes are ever quite the same\, so expect a few surprises along the way! \nWho is this Academy Evening for?\nWhether you’re a complete beginner\, an enthusiastic hobbyist looking to try something new\, or a more experienced photographer wanting to develop your skills and add something different to your portfolio\, this Academy Evening is for you. \nYou don’t need any previous studio photography experience or specialist high-speed photography equipment. Just bring your camera\, your curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Team Welshot will be on hand throughout the evening to help you understand the techniques\, choose suitable camera settings and get the most from your photography\, whatever your level of experience. \nAs with all Welshot Photographic Academy Evenings\, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly\, relaxed and supportive environment where asking questions\, trying new things and learning through practical experience are all part of the fun. \nThere are no competitions\, no pressure and certainly no expectation that every photograph will be perfect. It’s all about learning\, experimenting\, building confidence and\, most importantly\, enjoying your photography. \nEvent schedule\n18:30 – Meet at the Welshot Creative Hub – 16 Trinity Square\, Llandudno\n18:35 – Photography starts – One to One and Group tuition\n20:00 – Short break – time to grab yourself a hot/cold drink\n20:30 – Photography continues with One to One and Group Tuition\n22:00 – Finish \n  \nWhat should you bring?\n\nYour camera\, ideally one that allows manual exposure settings and can be used with studio flash.  If not\, don’t worry\, you can still take part and get creative\nA standard zoom or macro lens\, if you have one.\nA fully charged battery and spare if available.\nAn empty memory card with plenty of space.\nYour tripod\, if you have one\, although we’ll have some equipment available.\nYour curiosity and a willingness to experiment!\n\nDon’t worry if you don’t have a macro lens or specialist equipment.
